Friends And Family Baby Shower

Saturday was my friends and family baby shower, hosted by my besties Christina and Jeana! They have put so much blood, sweat and tears into the planning of this that I knew it was going to be great, but they beyond exceeded my expectations!!

The shower was held at Christina's friend Meredith's house. It was a beautiful home and perfect for a party. She was as gracious as she could be to all my guests and was a true lady. I am very grateful that she warmly allowed us all into her home.

I walked in and saw the mantel first, which was ADORABLY decorated with a banner that Christina made. She made it as décor and for the baby's room. Yes, she took the time to MAKE this. It just blows me away. Mostly because I'm not crafty, but also because she's SO busy, I have no idea when she fit that in. On top of the banner was the letters she made for Adam's room. They are adorable. Nursery pics to come soon! But yeah she MADE those, too! WOW!

Then I saw the food table. Was SO adorable!!! There were plates of different appetizers that were awesome and then I saw a fruit baby carriage. This was SO awesome. Christina made this, too! Then I saw the cupcakes, I assumed they were from a bakery because they looked that good, and then found out Jeana made them! WHAT?! Who knew my friends were so talented?! And the cupcakes even were personalized to say "Lindsey's little peanut!" So sweet and special. BLEW. ME. AWAY.

What did we have to drink you ask? JONES blue drink is what! Sorry, I don't remember the flavor so we're going to have to go with "the blue one." Ha! It was awesome. There was also water and soda.

Then in the living room there was an elephant pillow that Christina MADE (LOVE this, will have it when I'm 80) and a sign that one of her friends made that I love (you will see it in the nursery pics)and then the gifts.

In a side room, sorry don't know the name of the fancy room on the side, so we're going to go with "side room." In the side room, there was my fingerprint tree set up from my last shower, so all of my guests could add to it. There also was the "Wishes for Baby" cards for everyone to fill out. I read these when I got home and admit I teared up reading them. My friends are so sweet. I cannot wait to put these in the baby book.

In the kitchen, Christina had several games set up. The "Price Is Right" game, and "Baby Bingo" game, and we played the "Can't say the word baby" game. Either no one said baby or people just weren't paying attention on this one. LOL. I lost pretty quick. SO fun!

One thing that I loved about this shower, besides the thought behind it and décor, was the people. Everyone there was really sweet and the conversations flowed very smoothly. We played games, I opened gifts, and then we all talked and had cupcakes. It really was PERFECT.

I'm learning so much about people during my pregnancy. I *KNOW* that I chose to do this on my own, and I would be okay expecting to do so, but it really is amazing to me to see the people that don't want me to have to. You think you have all these wonderful people in your life, and then a few step up in ways you'd never imagine to show you that you are loved beyond words. It really is amazing. After the shower, after Christina and Jeana had been working their ASSES off ALL DAY, they came over to my apartment to help me take up all the stuff to my apartment, and then put it all up in my nursery. IT. LOOKS. AMAZING. Christina's banner is hanging above the crib. The fingerprint tree from mom's work shower is hanging up, complete with everyone that came to my shower's fingerprint on the tree. The toy net is in the corner that Jeana put up. Christina's homemade letters for Adam's name are hanging above the dresser, and the sign her friend made is above the bookcase.

When I originally planned décor for this room, it was somewhat different. I wanted an elephant decal above the crib, which is super cute, and some other ideas for around the room. But after seeing all the amazing stuff Christina MADE, I thought NO, I want THIS up! I love that so much of what is hanging in my son's room is homemade and from the HEART. And I couldn't believe that once we got it all up, I had nothing I had to buy. I know that was Christina's whole point, but to me it was just shocking. It all came together so fast! And it was BEAUTIFUL! I honestly couldn't be happier with that room. It is absolutely PERFECT!

After the long day, we went to Babies R Us to buy the stroller and car seat, then went to dinner and shared some laughs. I freaking love those girls. SO much fun. Then we came home and Christina left. I'm glad, she worked SO hard and needed to REST! And then Jeana put together my stroller and installed my car seat for me, again after all day of being there for me. Kelly helped, too and when we were done I thought we were all going to collapse haha.

It was a wonderful day. A day full of LOVE. I'm so blessed, and not just for great friends, but because those friends are my FAMILY. I simply cannot WAIT for Adam to love them, too!!

  1. That's what family (friends) are for! And, it was a fantastic shower. One of my favorites, because everyone was so super sweet, conversations flowed easily, and it wasn't forced. It was fantastic.

And everything is done for Adam's nursery!
