Measuring Big

I got to see Adam today on the big screen at the doctor's office. He was so cute. He was asleep with his hand on his face and he wouldn't move his hand. Then when the ultrasound tech kept prodding he woke up and moved away from her. I don't think he liked that wand poking into his tummyhouse!

Everything looks normal, but he is measuring big. He is supposed to be about 1 lb right now and he is 1 lb 3oz. I asked if this was weight, or length, taking into account that the men on my side of the family are pretty tall. The doctor said it isn't indicative of their birth size, and many babies that measure big now turn out to be average size at birth. SO, they said to keep my weight down (has been hard to do) and that I might have gestational diabetes, which would cause him to weigh more. I'm hoping that is not the case.

Weight has been a struggle. My doctor only wants me to gain 10 lbs, which I'm a bit confused on if the placenta weighs 1, the baby weighs 8, so I'm only allowed to gain a pound during 40 weeks of pregnancy? I get that I'm starting out heavy, but not sure how that number is realistic. Anyway, I do worry about Adam getting too big so I'm going to try to exercise more and fit in even more fruits and veggies.

The struggle I'm having is that I'm on my feet all day at work, the severe behavior issues I've been dealing with lately are emotionally draining, so when I get home, I just want to fall into bed and not move. I've also been pretty tired lately, too. This all leads to not being too active and not taking the time to fix the freshest meals. I'm going to do better.

I cannot wait until summer. 6 more weeks and I can get as much rest as I need, and can try to form a solid exercise routine every day, while having all the time in the world to fix the fresh foods that are great for us. Until then, I just have to do better.

Oh and something funny, the doctors like to look at the different parts of the body and make comments. The tech said, "Your placenta looks good. Your ovaries look good. And WOW Oh my goodness your Cervix looks AWESOME!!!!" LOL what?! Then the doctor says, "Everything looks good. Oh wow look at your Cervix it looks fantastic!!!" LOL! I just said, "Uh, thank you?" It's just so funny to me.

So yeah Mommy and Adam are doing amazing. Feeling so blessed with the little miracle that is with me every day. God is SO good.
